Eco Barn Conversion
Subject to planning consent, this redundant agricultural barn is to be converted to a modest, zero carbon dwelling. Due to its location on the Glamorgan Heritage Coastline our proposal is very low key and non-domestic in appearance, intending to prevent any detriment to the local environment, both visually and physically. Our strategy was to keep the barn as an 'as found object in the landscape' and we've achieved this by using a prefab timber panel system allowing a new house to be inserted within the existing shell without affecting it in any way. The new extension is sunken into the ground with a grass roof which increases thermal efficiency whilst concealing it in the landscape.
